Solar Thermal Water System Installers, Scotland

Solar Water Heating, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen

How much of your fuel costs go on heating water? If you’ve ever made note of just how often your boiler runs, you’ll know that it’s a large portion. But did you know that your conventional boiler, immersion heater or combi-boiler can be adapted to use solar energy to heat water?

When we install a solar thermal water system for your home or business, you’ll cut your bills, reduce your carbon footprint, and benefit from hot water all year round. We’ll carry out a full consultation with you, to decide whether evacuated tubes or flat plate collectors are the most suitable system, and we can even install solar photovoltaic panels to assist with heating your home.

If you’ve got any questions about solar thermal water heating, please browse through the FAQs below. Or discuss your questions with us directly on 0845 519 5476.

Is My Home Suitable for Solar Water Heating?

The vast majority of houses are suitable for solar water heating. However, for the best results, we require five square meters of south-facing roof space, enough room for a larger hot water cylinder with solar heating coil, and a boiler that’s compatible with our solar systems. If you’re unsure about the above, get in touch. One of our accredited installers will be happy to assess your home.

How Much Maintenance is Required?

The systems we install are generally very low-maintenance. Each solar water heating system comes with a five or ten year warranty, and only requires servicing every three to seven years.

In the intervening time, we recommend that you keep an eye out for any leaks or a strong anti-freeze smell, as these can indicate damage to your system.

How Much Money Can I Save?

As with all our renewable energy systems, solar water heating will reduce your energy bills considerably. A recent study of our customers shows that a properly installed system typically saves £55 per year over gas heating, and £80 per year over immersion heating.

You’ll also be eligible to receive payments through the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive, putting your heating system to work for you.
